Our Team

Michael Rothrock is the Founder and CEO of Rock Capital Group, where he leads the firm’s financial planning efforts and business development initiatives. With over 25 years of experience in the financial services industry, Michael works closely with clients to develop comprehensive, data-driven financial plans tailored to their goals and evolving needs. He remains actively involved in monitoring plans and investments, helping to ensure that each client’s financial strategy stays aligned with their long-term vision. Before establishing Rock Capital Group in 2019, Michael held leadership and advisory roles at several financial firms, including 1847 Financial, PennWood Financial, and Creative Financial Group, all affiliated with MetLife. His early career included work as an investment broker at Atlas Capital Management. Michael holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) certification and the LUTCF™ designation, and maintains Series 7, 63, and 66 securities licenses, along with a Life, Accident & Health Insurance License. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business from East Stroudsburg University and is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Moravian University. 

A lifelong resident of Pennsylvania, Michael lives in the Lehigh Valley with his wife Katicia, whom he married in 1998. They have two daughters, Katherine and Gabrielle. Outside of the office, Michael enjoys the outdoors - especially fishing, hunting, boating, and skiing - and is passionate about fitness and travel.

Jennifer Hughes supports the day-to-day operations of Rock Capital Group as Executive Assistant to Michael Rothrock. In this role, she handles a range of administrative and client service responsibilities, including scheduling investment meetings, managing paperwork for new business and account updates, maintaining the firm’s CRM and operations manual, and assisting clients with a variety of needs.

Jennifer brings deep experience in customer service and administrative support from her work in both the insurance and healthcare industries. Prior to joining Rock Capital Group, she held roles in claims processing, customer response, and administrative coordination at The Guardian Insurance Company in Pennsylvania and PICA Group Services in Nashville. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA.

Jennifer lives in Bath, Pennsylvania with her husband, Shawn, and their twin daughters, Molly and Morgan. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family and their pets.
 

Craig Schafer is a Senior Partner, bringing over three decades of experience in tax planning, financial services, and advisory leadership. With a professional background that includes time at Deloitte & Touche and ownership of his own CPA firm, Craig combines deep technical expertise with a relationship-driven approach to client service.

Craig holds multiple industry designations, including Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Life Underwriting Training Council Fellow (LUTCF), and Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy® (CAP®). His licensure spans life and health insurance, as well as securities registrations including Series 6, 7, 63, and 65. He is active in several professional organizations, including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Craig serves as a financial planner for both Rock Capital Group and 1847Financial. He was previously a Partner at Independence Planning Group. He sold his CPA practice, Craig J. Schafer and Company, to become a full time financial planner.

Craig is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University and lives in Fogelsville, PA with his wife, Kenda. They have two children: Colton, who works alongside him, and Kira, a student at Penn State. Outside the office, Craig is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys hunting, fishing, and golf.
